VICTORIA
AVENUE FOREVER is a non-profit 501(c)(3) citizen organization
dedicated toward preservation, maintenance, educational efforts related to
Victoria Avenue. Victoria Avenue is a 4-mile long historic,
botanical, and scenic parkway, created in 1892, with roots deeply imbedded in
the City of Riverside and its historic citrus industry. Victoria Avenue
has been designated a City of Riverside Cultural Heritage Landmark, and it is listed on the National Register of
Historic Places. Victoria Avenue Forever was formed in 1990 in response to
concerns over the erosion of the historic, botanical, and scenic qualities of
Victoria Avenue. Since its formation, Victoria Avenue Forever has spearheaded
hundreds of volunteer hours directed toward a variety of projects related to
Victoria Avenue. The fruits of its labors include the planting of over 600
trees, the creation and maintenance of two special gardens, the construction of
an informational kiosk at Jane Street and Victoria Avenue, the creation of
informational brochures, the presentation of numerous talks, seminars, and
lectures, and the creation of an endowment fund to help assure the preservation
of Victoria Avenue in the future.
